Passion Flower Extract

Flavonoids, alkaloids, and sugars are the effective components of Pasipay drop for the treatment of anxiety. Apigenin and Chrysin are important flavonoids in Passion that have an agonistic effect on benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, and by inhibiting GABA catabolizing enzymes, increase GABA concentration and consequently decrease the activity of CNS and cause sedation and generate anti-anxiety effects. The most important alkaloids in passion flower are Harman, harmol, and harmaline that inhibit the activity of Mono Amine Oxidase (MAO) enzyme and cause sedation. Maltol and Ethylmaltol are the sugars in passion flower herb that might have sedative effects on the CNS. Passionflower is containing active ingredients that produce a calming effect. It brings about feelings of relaxation and sleepiness and is sometimes combined with other plants in an herbal blend. A 2016 study showed that passionflower alleviated sleep disorders when taken for four weeks. Participants in the study also experienced reduced anxiety levels.
